How to Care for Crassula Ovata Variegated Gollum Jade

Some individuals consider this plant as a symbol of good luck and believe that it will provide some more money. That’s why they enjoy growing it in offices and homes. Hence the name Money Tree.

The whole Crassula genus is easy to care for. But it suffers from mealybugs and fungal diseases. So whenever you cut any section, treat it with fungicide.

Unlike other succulents, the Jade plant can be very sensitive to fungicide and can cause even more damage to the plant. So whenever you are going to remove mealybugs and other pests from the plant, use cotton balls soaked with rubbing alcohol.

Where should you plant it?

If you live in a colder environment, where temperature can go below 30 °F (-1.1 °C), You should plant Crassula Ovata 'Variegated Gollum Jade' in a container. Because it is not cold hardy, so you'll be able to bring it inside in winter. Also, don't forget to use Best DIY Succulent Soil for the container.

This succulent needs more sunlight. So plant where it gets about 5-6 hours of direct sunlight a day.

Watering Variegated Gollum Jade

Crassula Ovata 'Variegated Gollum Jade' does not require any special watering schedule. You can use the same succulents watering method just like for other succulents plants. It is best to water once the soil perfectly dries out. Otherwise, its roots may rot in wet soil.

How to Propagate Crassula Ovata

Variegated Gollum Jade can be propagated by two methods, i.e. stem and leaf cuttings.

Propagate by stem cuttings

To propagate Variegated Gollum Jade by stem cutting, cut a tube from the base with the help of sharp scissors or a sterile knife.

After cutting the tube, callous over for a day or two. Then place the tube on a well-draining succulents & cacti soil having neutral PH (6.6 - 7.3). Better to place the cut section a little bit in the soil.

Propagate by Leaf cuttings

When cutting a leaf for propagation, try to gently cut as a whole. I.e. no part of the leaf should be left on the stem. This is to increase the chances of successful propagation.

After collecting leaves, callous over for a day or two. Then place the leaves on a well-draining succulents and cacti soil having neutral PH (6.6 - 7.3). Like the stem cutting, place the cut section of the leaf in the soil.

Propagating by leaf-cutting is not recommended for beginners as it is a little difficult. So they should stick with stem cuttings.
